Weather becomes significantly warmer closer to the equator. However, due to the tilt of the Earth on its axis, the southern hemisphere will experience the opposite season that the northern hemisphere experiences. As this data was taken in October, the northern hemisphere would be entering its fall season, and so the southern hemisphere is entering its spring.
